We officially got moved! As of January 28th we have become the newest members of Wasatch County. We are delighted to be in our new home, now if only we could find the time to finish unpacking! We have been diligently going through boxes 1 at a time, however getting all ready for the little one has been of utmost priority as of late. Crib - check.....Carseat......check, that is a good start right? Pictures soon, I promise....when I find the camera...

Well, our home is officially done! We haven't finalized everything yet, but we did sneak up over the weekend and enjoy a couple hours in our new place. Looks like within a couple weeks, we will officially be Heber City residents. Pics coming....stay tuned.

As Promised

I said in my last post that I would fill you in on what has been happening.....well I am here to do it now(what, has it really been since July since I promised that)? Without further adieu...lots of big changes on our horizon. We are pregnant....well me anyway. We are expecting our little missy around the first of April. Upon getting the news of her impending arrival, we promptly began looking for a new place to bring our bundle home to. We finally made the decision to move to Heber, something we had long dreamed of. We were fortunate at the time that we started looking, that building a home was the best option for us. We are very blessed to be building our dream home on large lot with beautiful views and in a town we hope will be best for raising our growing family. Our home should be completed within weeks and ready for us to move into at the end of the month. EXCITING!!

This move comes with a much anxiety for me. Everyone has assumed, me being the country girl from a small town would easily adapt to our new community, but I am finding that I am more of a city girl than I once thought! Mr. J, on the other hand, I know that this will be such as easy transition for him and he will find that this is probably where he always belonged. He is more of a small town guy with an old spirit.

Our sweet monster dog Dublin was pushing 100 pounds at his first birthday, so as you can imagine, he is a HUGE bundle of energy, excitement, intelligence and love. His personality is just as big as he is and we just love having him around!

Well there you have it, a quick update, although chalked with lots of goodness. Stay tuned for things are just getting good!

Sunday is my typical grocery shopping day, today being no different. Upon waking and gathering the dog for our trip to the dog park, Ms. Grigio's house and of course the grocery store, I grabbed the grocery list off the fridge off we were off. Our first stop was the dog park and the next stop was to enjoy hot tang and French pastries with Ms. Grigio, then our local market. Upon getting out my list, I noticed a handwriting that is not usually on our list. Turns out last Sunday evening while entertaining Y and Ms. Grigio, Y had taken it upon herself to examine the cupboards and note some things she thought we needed. In the middle of the list was a very random, yet much needed item she thought Mr. J should get for me. Although said item is it is not appropriate to mention here (this is a family blog after all) I couldn’t help but giggle! Thanks Y for thinking of me, and in return I thought of you every time I looked down at my list today!

My "thing"

Everyone has a “thing”, blogging is obviously not mine……drinking wine with my girlfriends or the hubs, now that could possibly be my “thing”. With respect to the fact that my “thing” does not involve writing or a computer, I am going to attempt the unnatural and give it a shot again!

A brief synopsis on what has happened in the last year, really has it been a year (see above paragraph again). Most things have stayed the same, although many things have changed. We finally finished up most of the home remodeling projects, new bedroom (furniture and all) - check new bathroom - check new kitchen - check new floors - check. One more large project to undertake and I am opting out of that one…..I am wishing the hubs luck! See, I really did not have time to blog anyway; I was busy painting, tiling and scheduling deliveries and installation. While the hubs was busy putting out fires and saving lives, I was busy rocking real estate. I took up a new hobby – photography, and when I have time and fabulous models, I love it!

We have a new addition to the family…….our dogchild Dublin, aka Dubs, Monster, Dumpling, Indigo, and WWE Wrestler (he is famous for his body slams). Whichever name you choose to call him, he and his gigantic paws and floppy ears come running for love and attention. This guy has taken over our lives; so much so that we even broke down and bought a new dog friendly car, the Subaru Outback or the InFront as some people have referred to it. We vacationed in the Dominican Republic, for anyone looking for a new destination, I highly recommend this place! The weather was the most perfect weather anyone could ask for, complete with crystal blue waters and a swim up bar! We could not have asked for a better trip, I came back feeling like a new person. Other than the previously listed major accomplishments, the last year (now referred to as last blogging year) was amazing. We got to go many places and see so many of your lovely faces. So with the last blogging year behind us and a new one ahead (cross your fingers), I look forward to much more time here in this space that is mine.

Time Flies When You Are Having Fun?

That is what they say, and if that is the case then we have had a blast! I don't know where the last 6 months of my life went, anyone know? If you see it running by, just holler! I thought that since not having a "traditional job" I would have much more time on my hands, funny how that does not seem to be the case, not even by a mile. I don't know where one project ends and another one starts. I have taken a much needed break, I really enjoyed the summer and was lucky enough to have some fabulous people that were kind enough to share their company, and their pools with me. I forgot how summer should be spent.....poolside with great people! I had the chance to go on a few road trips, see places I have never seen, eaten amazing food and visited people I love. Now with the holidays approaching, I am so excited to be able to enjoy them to the fullest with very cool people.

With 2010 right around and the corner and with real estate picking up I anticipate a very busy year next year. I plan to hit the ground running and I am already preparing. We are looking forward to many changes in the J household in the next year, and cannot wait. We have set a LOFTY goal of running a marathon. The date has yet to be determined based on Mr. J's work schedule. I will keep you posted and you can all be waiting for us at the finish line, god knows I will need to see some smiling faces! Also, being as Mr. J is an avid fly fisher and I myself am a bit uncoordinated with a fly rod, we have also decided that we are going to work toward being able to enjoy this sport together. I have promised to be a very calm and patient learner, and Mr. J to be a very patient teacher. Wish us luck! I have been fully outfitted for this new hobby and can't wait to try out my new gear. Among everything else, I am even thinking about going back to school! I have also found a new love.....cooking, who knew? If you have any good recipes, please throw them my way, I am always dying to try something new.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I hope everyone will take a minute and remember what you are thankful for. I am thankful for all the amazing people in my life, the great opportunities that have come my way this year and the ridiculous amount of fun I have had.

Many of you who have known me for a long time will probably recall that I used to run A LOT when I was in high school. Not because I enjoyed it, but because I was good at it. Well, I have recently started running again. This time around I enjoy it much much more. I have recently set my sights on a 10K come spring. Once again I am back! A lot has happened in the last few months. It started when I was working so many long hours at the CPA firm only to make it through tax season to be layed off due to "downsizing". This was a big shocker to the system. However, I am a firm believer in the fact that everything happens for a reason. I think this was my blessing in disguise. So I am so happy to be home more, and working on the things that I love and spending more time with Mr. J! I will now be using this time to work on some projects and get some things off the ground.

We have lots of things planned in the next couple of months and I can't wait! Stay tuned, more to come.

What a week, we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house, just the two of us.......don't feel bad for us, our feast rivaled this one. We certainly know how to throw a party for 2!I attempted to do a little shopping.....online, and failed miserably. Not a chance you would catch me out there braving the crowds on Black Friday. I prefer shopping from the comfort of my own home.

We also drank with Irish, said goodbye to a dear friend, caught up with old friends, and made new friends out of an unlikely situation.
We then had a much needed day of rest to recuperate from the weeks madness!

Hello Blog, allow me to introduce myself..... you and I used to be great friends. Lets get re-acquainted......I have just finished hand addressed 200 wedding invitations. I dotted every I and crossed every T with love. I can't wait for everyone to gather with us on our special day. I am getting excited at the thought of becoming a Mrs. Speaking of the Mr. and Mrs. the Mr. is preparing for his annual fishing trip to upstate New York. I love when he takes this trip because I get to revel in the eastern wine upon his return. I have many plans while he is away. I have projects lined up, breakfast dates, dinner dates and I intend to be "showered" with attention at 2 parties thrown in my honor. This is the fantastic time in which I love being the bride! Is it wrong to enjoy the moments that are all about me? We have many great things to look forward to in the coming months. Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and happens to be one of our favorite holidays. Our next activity will involve traveling to Wyoming to witness the nuptials of my dearest friend. Our presence with then be requested at several Christmas parties, followed by the arrival of Christmas. After Christmas brings the chorum of out of town family. I shall then ring in the New Year one last time as a single woman. Only to change that status two days later. I can't think of a better way to start the year. From then I just can't say. I will for now live in the moment and continue to look forward to the things to come! Stay tuned, it is about to get good! Oh and by the way, Mr. J informed me he intends to start posting right here on this very blog.....I will believe it when I see it!

Last Sunday I had the privilege of spending time with some amazing ladies! We got together to celebrate the upcoming wedding of my dearest and best friend. Now let me first start with the fact that these women are wild, fun and all related! Somehow this explains a lot of things, good things of course. There is a different kind of fun that I have when I am with these girls. One that I can't explain. It is just different. One that isn't affected by miles, time or anything else. Getting together is always the same and as much fun as the last time, even if that was 6 months ago. This night was no exception! Look out Salt Lake City because here comes the family....and Reggan. That is exactly what happened. So you ask, how much fun did we have.......... I can't even begin to tell you! So.....here is to:
The bachelorette, the whiskey, the scratch off cards that didn't scratch off, Olive Garden salad(still waiting), sangria, getting kicked out of Olive Garden for being to loud("hey we're Italian, what do you expect?"), Iggys, A good ole fashioned game of I Have Never, a bucket of chicken balls,the yellow taxi cab in a glass(don't order it, it is just bad), blue moon, tea and champagne and our poor waitress.

And most importantly, to the girls that made me laugh so hard I cried and made me cry so hard I laughed. Thanks girlies, I really needed it!

A change will do you good

As of late I have been feeling a little overwhelmed, stressed, exhausted and entirely just out of sync. I find myself thinking in a way I never have before. I don't know what has brought this change about. Could be my upcoming nuptials, the fact that I am almost thirty, or simply that I just take the little things for granted. I listened to Mr. Jastram tell me a story last night about an encounter that he had with an ill child who wanted to see the fire truck. WOW, I thought about how such a small action on one mans part, was probably the highlight of this child's day or week! That was my final turning point. I want to do something that I can be proud of, not just something that I am good at. So I will begin my quest to find that fulfilling something that I love to do. This may come at a price but I think my happiness is worth it. Thank god Mr. Jastram is so supportive and understands that sometimes the money just isn't worth it, and I LOVE HIM FOR THAT!

I also have this creative side of myself that has started to emerge lately(gasp). Most of you who know me wouldn't say that I am a creative artsy type, I know I am the first to say I am not. But there are some things I am good at and I want to spend more time doing them.

So here my list begins........

We bought our house for a reason. We just fell in love with it and all it's charm. We saw so much potential in it. So I am going to spend more time on my house bringing the picture in my head to life. I owe it to myself and our humble abode.I love photography, so I think I will buy myself a new camera and take some fun pictures that I love and am proud to display on my walls.I love love love painting furniture and giving it a new life or place in the home. I am going to start a small side business doing just that. Purely because I enjoy it. Folks, if you have something that needs a face lift, I am your girl. If not, come look at my collection and see if you could offer a good home to any of my projects.For any of you who know me well, you know black is the staple color in my closet. Not for any particular reason but because it is easy, and I feel good in it. However, I may just buy this floral number with ruffles. I think it would look good on me. If it is a really good day you many even catch me in something pink! Why not, right?

So in closing, I am going to spend a little time taking care of me. If you don't hear from me for a while, not to worry my friends, I am finding fulfillment in the smalls things. Quality over quantity. You can follow my journey right here on this very blog. Keep in mind, I will be back! Just a better me to share with you!

Scientists discover long lost blogger

I started this blog with the intention of posting daily thoughts and fun tidbits to enlighten everyone. I feel as if I have failed miserably! I could name so many reasons for the poor blog upkeep, some of which include: wedding planning, work, more work, babysitting, weekend trips, football games, packing for trips(not my own), the deck of a $1.5 million dollar home, floral arrangements, gardening, real estate, computer problems, and sometimes just simply getting distracted by sweaters!

So......now that everyone knows all the reasons I haven't kept up, I shall update you on the happenings at our home! If you read our prior post we were debating hitting Aspen for the weekend, so Harry(JJ) and myself(Lloyd) took on Aspen and all it's offerings. We were not disappointed. We saw a Bob Dylan, which was amazing and checked out the night life, which rocked and we played tourist, which was fulfilling. We spent some time in Green River with my family and friends which was well needed.

Wedding planning is coming along, although I am starting to panic cause it is almost 3 months to the BIG DAY!

JJ is heading to Alaska on Sunday for a fishing trip. I am stoked for him. He has always wanted to fish Alaska. I am also a little excited for all the salmon. Check you mailbox, you possibly may find yourself invited to our home for a salmon feast! I was planning on a quite week while he is gone. I was going to use the time to play catch up on many things that I have neglected. However, my nights are quickly filling with dinners, drinks and other offers from my girlfriends. I can't complain, girl time is always good for the soul!

So for now, I feel a little better leaving you for a few days, knowing that you are at least caught up and know we are still alive and well. More to come soon, I promise! I may possibly make plans for a guest blogger when I am unavailable, stay tuned......

Last night my mom called with extra tickets to see Bob Dylan in Aspen and invited us to go. I mentioned it to JJ, we are discussing our options when he says....."We have never been to Aspen, but Lloyd and Harry went and they had a hell of a time." Are you serious? That may have been the funniest thing I have heard..... ever.

We ordered Mexican last night and made up a batch of margaritas to add to the ambiance. Before we put the tequila away we thought it was only fitting that we start our feast with a shot. This brought back one of our favorite memories from Mexico. Our first day there we found a small Cantina across from our hotel. We sat on the patio and listened to the music while drinking a corona. The waiter brought over this bottle and offered us a shot. We were quick to agree, after all it was Mexico right? So first shot down......more corona......another shot, more corona....then the waiter comes back with the bottle one last time and fills both of our glasses. This is how the conversation unfolds.

us: Oh, we didn't order that
him: You no like, you no pay!
us: Oh oh, okay (whispering to ourselves) oh man guess we are paying.

When looking back, not a bad way to start a trip to Mexico. I suppose, when in Mexico, do as the Mexicans?

Ah the lazy days by the pool!

So I spent a little time by our pool on Saturday and Sunday enjoying the nice weather and a good book! This is what I imagined the scenery looked like........When in reality, it is similar to this......a girl can dream right! Feel free to stop by and take a dip in the pool whenever you are in the area! We have extra beach towels for all!

Downtown

A dear friend and I went for a walk yesterday evening. We enjoyed good conversation, great coffee, eclectic people, and experienced new downtown real estate. When suddenly it occurred to us that we had just stepped in the front door of a local watering hole. Interestingly enough, that was not our destination, as we had none. Shocking you say, I know....about as shocking as it was for us. So we thought we would enjoy at least one cold frosty beverage, we were sure we had earned it on that long walk. So we did just that! Oh the many joys that downtown Salt Lake has to offer.

In an effort to do many things such as; be a little more self sustaining, green, organic, and busy, we planted our very first garden this year. Any of you know who have seen our back yard know, there isn't much room, well there certainly isn't any room anymore as the garden has taken over. One source told us that not all of the plants we planted would make it. We bought extra of everything to ensure a good crop(okay maybe we went a little overboard). We have not lost one plant. It is amazing to us how this thing just keeps growing. Here are a few pictures of our garden!

The fruits of our labor have started to pay off. We have peppers growing like crazy and the tomatoes are so close to being ready. This head of romaine lettuce was our first harvest.
Here is what is looked like, washed and turned into a meal. We are so proud!

Last Sunday we headed out for a day of jeeping and shooting with JJ's sister Natalie and her boyfriend Sean. This really could have been the last trip out for the jeep, JJ has been thinking about selling it. We would all be sad to see it go, but those of you that have been to our house know that the parking is sparse and a pain sometimes with 3 vehicles and a trailer. I thought I would post a few pictures from the afternoon. These pictures in no way show how much fun we really had!

Last week we headed off to Montana and Wyoming for a week of fishing and camping. We started out on Sunday with a float trip down the bighorn river. We caught tons of fish and had so much fun. Our highlight of the day was when we both got a fish in at the same time. Check this out!

We fished briefly in Yellow Stone before we were chased out of there by a buffalo. Those things move faster than you would think. If you look close you can see him in the background , this was of course before he decided it was time for us to leave!
